Forecasting

APK | October 17, 2006 | 9:12 am

I was followed by the crazy today. Getting off the train, a guy asked me for money. This is not exactly unusual. But see, when I didn’t have any money to give him he started to walk behind me.

Again, not the strangest thing in the world.

But then he started to scream. He screamed his heart out. He bellowed. He raged. He… told me the forecast?

No, really, he did. It was after the first bit of yelling that he started screaming out a forecast for the next few days. Well, that got me to turn around, at least. I stopped walking and turned the hell around and he stopped walking and just looked at me, going silent.

I didn’t know, exactly, what to do then. I mean, wave my arms, scream some myself, shout some weather? So I turned back and started to walk again. Within seconds the forecast had started back up.

When I went inside he was outside the building. I poked my head out the back door and looked and he seemed to be gone. I hope he’s gone and not standing out there, waiting to see me again to shout more forecasts at me.

For the record he forecast the following in New York:

Today – light rain with a chance of heavy rain. High in the 50s.
Tonight – more rain with a high in the 50s
Tomorrow – no more rain with a high in the 60s

In other news. no one answered the Super’s bell last night. Tried three times. Tried again this morning. Still nothing. So who knows.
