It’s dangerous out there, take this.

APK | February 21, 2007 | 3:27 pm

On this day in 1986, Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda in Japan. Happy birthday, Link. At last you are of legal age, cause after all this shit for that one damned Princess? You need a drink.

Also? You might need to be drinking to watch these old Nintendo ads for the original Zelda:

AMERICAN:

JAPANESE

It has been brought to my attention that the second ad is for Zelda 3 and not the original Zelda. By Joe who says: “It says Super Fanicom which wasn’t out when the original Zelda came out” and “[It] has Link doing a spin attack which was introduced in Zelda 3″ Joe went on to admit “Oh god I’m a nerd sometimes”.

No More Kings

APK | February 21, 2007 | 1:44 pm

FYI: Saw the “Sweep the Leg” video posted last night? Guess who contacted their publicity people and scored an interview with the band that will, one assumes, see light of day on thefootnote.com later on?

Yup.

The No More Kings interview, coming to thefootnote.com eventually. You heard it here first.

(hearing it here first includes Dustin and D.J. who I hope don’t mind that I just invented content for their website.)

Sweep the leg, Johnny

APK | February 20, 2007 | 7:51 pm

A video for the song “Sweep the Leg” by No More Kings. It not only has the guy who played Johnny but also a Ralph Macchio cameo and lyrics like:

I heard the devil whisper in my ear
He made his message clear
When he said
Sweep the leg, Johnny

There is no fear in this dojo
I was a superhero
King of 1985
I showed no mercy
I was always Cobra-Kai
But I caught a crane kick to the face…

Christ how can this not be one of the funniest songs and videos ever?

Thank you K-Foo for showing me this!

A paperclip?

APK | February 20, 2007 | 6:26 pm

A complete list of MacGyver tricks, by episode.

Christ they started with this:

001 PILOT
Disarmed missle with a paperclip
Matches & rope got rifle to shoot itself
Smashed pistol barrel to use as rocket thruster
Kicked grate to test for hidden laser
Lit cigarette with hidden laser
Smoked cigarette to find hidden laser
Used binocular eyepiece to catch laser beam
Aimed laser beam at source to “kill” it
Knotted fire hose to build up water pressure
Used said hose to lift steel beam
Tested heat on door with a stick (it caught fire)
Milk Chocolate candy stops sulphuric acid leak
Used shirt to filter gases
Sodium metal & cold capsule explosive
Flipped lights in morse code

And that was the PILOT!

Today is the start of Mardi Gras! You know what that means, don’t you?

You have to earn these.

I leave it to you to work out how you will do so.

Chat!

APK | February 19, 2007 | 12:09 pm

Hey there. March 5th, 9pm at The Lost and Damned chat room: Come hang out and ask me questions about writing. It is mainly about the Strange Angel series, of course, since the 3rd book is coming out soon, but I’ll be around to talk about anything: Talking Heads, columns, blogs, fiction… you name it.

So there ya go. I’ll toss up another reminder closer to the date but start to get ready now.

March 5th. 9pm. The Lost and Damned chat room (lostdamned.com/chat.htm). Be there. You know you want to.

Zelda, beer, cash.

APK | February 17, 2007 | 11:20 am

I am taking this weekend off. Don’t call me or expect me to go out and see you unless at least one of these conditions is met:

1) You are my Zelda partner.
2) You are offering to buy me drinks.
3) You want to sit and watch movies on my couch.
4) You have paying work for me to do.
5) I already owe you work that has been paid for.
6) You have a damned good reason, and by that I mean a reason I would find damned good.

If at least one of those does not apply to you – don’t expect to hear from me ’till next week. Reasons 2 and 4 collectively trump most others.

Batpole.

APK | February 16, 2007 | 1:11 pm

So I was bored and sick and on a call and I came across the DC Comics solicitations for May 2007. At the end they had toys. Some of them had pictures. I noticed one and I had to share it.

I cut the image out of the group of toys it is part of and made a ham-handed, I-am-not-an-artist focus on the toy that caught me. So forgive the lack of pretty involved.

Now look at that package. Down to the creases in the fabric of his thighs, this Batman will dick-slap you if you get out of line. That thing is at least the size of Robin’s forearm.

Obviously not a sculpt of Adam West.

Big Bangism

APK | February 16, 2007 | 11:05 am

Help me. I need to believe that a site is a hoax. Wanna help me find some proof?

See, I saw this bit at Talking Points Memo and it referenced heavily a certain site:

Fixed Earth

FROM THE SITE: “An electromagnet and computerized sensor hidden in its display stand cause the Earth to levitate motionlessly in the air.”

Could God have engineered something like that for the real Earth?

The Bible and all real evidence confirms that this is precisely what He did, and indeed:
The Earth is not rotating…nor is it going around the sun.

The universe is not one ten trillionth the size we are told.

Today’s cosmology fulfills an anti-Bible religious plan disguised as “science”.

The whole scheme from Copernicanism to Big Bangism is a factless lie.

Those lies have planted the Truth-killing virus of evolutionism in every aspect of man’s “knowledge” about the Universe, the Earth, and Himself.

——————————

I mean there are a ton of links and… this can’t be real, right? This has to be a hoax. I refuse to buy into this one. Help?
