Yup, and pants.

APK | March 22, 2007 | 9:21 am

Because even the Karate Kid needed a cartoon at one point:

—————————————————————-

So I realized last night, on the phone with Kirkbride, that in the Hanna/Barbara future pants are evil. Take Thundarr the Barbarian. The only people on that show that really wear pants are the bad guys. Same with Herculoids, really. They might be onto something. Pants might be evil. Now you know.

And then Star Trek and Monty Python met…

Fezzik news: Have to call the Animal Hospital tomorrow and talk tot hem to set up a time to bring records, and probably cat, over to them. So there we go. Otherwise he’s doing good. Stitches are out, he’s moving around just fine, but still relearning how to jump fully. His legs are still regaining strength.

——————————————————————————

I go back to work Thursday and also come home Thursday and sit and force myself to start writing again. From here on in I have a schedule I have to keep to and bust out works harder than before. I’m excited. I am also happy I let myself have one last day off before I threw myself back into shit.

——————————————————————————

So here I am, feeling kinda crappy physically and mentally and oddly fragile emotionally (don’t worry about it, just putting it out there) and far too awake at 1:30 in the morning. I want to do something I just don’t know what. So I’ll probably make a call or go read or something, I guess. I dunno.

The downside of going to a great convention: Meeting some cool people you didn’t have time to get contact info for.

But anyway. Home now. Taking Fezzik to get the stitches out in a few hours. Bumming around with company now. Stuff. Things.

Eternal Sunshine of the Cheeseless Mind

APK | March 14, 2007 | 3:05 pm

Drug can clear away one fearful memory while leaving another intact.

A single, specific memory has been wiped from the brains of rats, leaving other recollections intact.

The study adds to our understanding of how memories are made and altered in the brain, and could help to relieve sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of the fearful memories that disrupt their lives. The results are published in Nature Neuroscience.

The brain secures memories by transferring them from short-term to long-term storage, through a process called reconsolidation. It has been shown before that this process can be interrupted with drugs. But Joseph LeDoux of the Center for Neural Science at New York University and his colleagues wanted to know how specific this interference was: could the transfer of one specific memory be meddled with without affecting others?

“Our concern was: would you do something really massive to their memory network?” says LeDoux.

FYI

APK | March 14, 2007 | 10:17 am

Please to be noting: After around 5pm today I will probably not be around until Monday. Enjoy the silence. I will still be getting email, so if you want to say hi do it that way. Or call if you have the number.

Here is a good Tron Lightcycle flash game.

Fezzik – test results.

APK | March 13, 2007 | 4:45 pm

So it’s malignant.

What does this mean – Chemo of some sort. I don’t know yet. I know this type of cancer in cats is common (and I forget the name right now) and responds well to chemo. So. I am getting a referral to a specialist and will go from there.

This isn’t the end. Just another bump in the road.

Mmmm Meat.

APK | March 13, 2007 | 1:20 pm

Jakks toys got the license for Rocky. They could produce Rocky toys at will! And they planned a line of all sorts of different characters and poses and looks and everything.

But then they went too far.

How far, you might ask, is too far for an “action figure”?

I present to you The Meat. Yup. It’s a side of beef and a bloody smock. Remember the first movie? When Rocky goes and wears a smock while punching a side of beef?

Now you too can recreate that moment with your own plastic side of beef and… bloody smock… to dress your Rocky toys up in.

The Meat.

The.

Meat.

Do you have a bird feeder? Do squirrels eat from it? Do you want them to stop? Alternatively do you want to just fuck with some squirrel’s heads?

But the Twirl-a-Squirrel. No, seriously.

See, it spins when someone of a decent weight sits on it, like a squirrel, but not when a bird sits on the bird feeder. So it’s safe for birds but when a squirrel sits there, around and around it goes.

No, honest. Here’s a video of it:

… BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
