Fantastic Four: Rise of the Fanboy Nation

APK | June 14, 2007 | 9:49 am

Now, understand I couldn’t care less about the second Fantastic Four movie. I liked the old Kirby/Lee comics, I’ve liked other bits of stuff as well, sure. Not an issue with the characters, it’s just that aside from Chiklis I don’t care. But when I saw this quote from a rabid fanboy I had to repost it. I had to. The wording is great, the sentiment is so wonderful… it’s everything you think a fanboy moment would be.

And so, on the concept of Galactus possibly not being large, purple and wearing a tuning fork we get:

“The makers of this film have already accepted a very bizarre conceit from the FF mythology: they’ve put a pretty much naked guy coated in silver on a surfboard as the centerpiece of their film. Once you accept that, it seems only logical to me that you’d be able to find a way to accept a giant cosmic humanoid who eats planets. Resorting to any other interpretation of Galactus is hypocritical and lacks creative integrity.”

God, I love the fanboy panty twist some days. I really do.
