Adventures in Bar-sitting

Filed Under (NY Life) by APK on 04-12-2007

So last night at the bar, I’m sitting there, while Hammer Pants is chatting up his lady, talking to M, our bartender of choice. She has this little apple tree ornament. Bright red, about the size of a hearty mutant cherry, I suppose, the thing is made of wood, and hollow.

Makes a good clacking noise on the bar. Makes a good fidget.

M and I are both playing with the thing, then setting it down and then grabbing it again. After a while she hands it to me and smiles.

“You should give it to an Eve, or something,” she said with a nod.

“Did you just call me Satan?” I asked.

“Well, sometimes I’m not that funny, I was just trying to find a….”

“No, I like that your Go-To move there is to call me Satan. Nice one.”

I introduced the nickname of Hammer Pants to the world, last night, and was greeted by – I would say – decent approval. Hammer Pants is going to stick around.

M, however, decided she needed a nickname. So I have to work that out this week.
