Ash – ahead of his time.

APK | September 15, 2008 | 11:00 am

So this weekend I ended up at Saloncon. It’s a little one day convention in Jersey that focuses on Victorian, and now it seems, steampunk stuff. It’s tiny, and I have little interest in the theme, I was just going to hang out with some friends.

But it got me thinking a tiny bit about steampunk. Coming home I had a realization:

Ash is steampunk. Well, in Army of Darkness at least. I mean come on! He makes himself a metal hand that is powered by tension gears and levers. He retrofits his broken down car to become the Deathcoaster, which is steam-powered, including a giant propeller on the front – for Deadite choppin’ don’cha know.

And yet all these people dressed up in steampunk attire and such, giant, elaborate fake robot arms on themselves, goggles and soot and boots and … none of them dress as Ash. Is he not recognized as steampunk by people? Do they try and disown him? That would be foolish. So that must not be it. I dunno. All I know is Ash is the man.

Ash – Steampunk before steampunk was steampunk.

My Library

Currently I have added 12 shelves of books. I have 40. I'll update this every time I add a shelf. It contains books I've purchased, been given for review over the years and that have been gifted to me. Also, except for random things that were scanned without thinking, this collection leaves out all of my graphic novels - for now.
