Let’s get this straight, shall we?
APK | October 1, 2009 | 2:38 pmI swear to fuck. If you say something in public you do not get to decide how it is read, taken, thought of or discussed. Saying “You can’t discuss this or use it as a reason for your judgment because” is a little bit like pissing into the wind, isn’t it? You said it in public. It’s out of your hands once you do that. You don’t get to tell people what to think or how to react. You really don’t. How would you like it if they did that to you? Yeah, I thought so.
If you don’t like that then don’t say shit in public! How hard is that, really?
If you say something in public, post a picture, have an opinion then people will, quite possibly read it or see it. And once they do they get to react however they choose. That might not be to your liking. That might be to your extreme dislike even. But just like you have the right to say things in public so do they.
And just to get this out of the way: If you post it on the internet, even on your own site or blog or whatever, but leave it publicly accessible it’s public. You can decide to not let people talk to you there, and cut them off and delete comments but you can’t make them unsee, unread or unthink things. Sorry.
So remember this for the future: If you put something out into the public the public will react to it as only the public can. Telling them they can’t react in certain ways, they aren’t “allowed” to come to conclusions or think things or say things just gets you laughed at. Maybe it’s behind your back, but trust me people are laughing.
Really fucking loudly.
